What to Read This Summer

Just a few weeks ago I reviewed the book, Out of My Mind. Although sad at moments, it proves to be a very uplifting novel. This week I am going to write about the book #Girlboss by Sophia Amoruso. The reason I chose to feature this book is because I know that a very popular pastime among teens is watching Netflix. Just recently, Netflix released a series recounting the true story that this book is based off of.

To summarize, #Girlboss was written by the founder of the store Nasty Gal, Sophia Amoruso. Sophia was the epitome of rags to riches and she displays that in her book when telling her story about starting her business. She began selling vintage clothing online as a young adult, because she had hit a low point in her life after her rebellious teenage years. This was her way of making money in addition to her other job that she applied for to get the healthcare. Little did she know, her vintage selling business would take off and she would become a successful role model for many young women today.

Sophia’s story is beyond interesting, and extremely intense. #Girlboss is a great book for all teens to read during this last month of summer vacation because it will inspire anyone to conquer the school year as Sophia conquered her dreams of being successful. Plus, speaking from my own experience, reading the book #Girlboss before watching the Netflix series made the show so much more enjoyable because I was able to understand Sophia’s story at a deeper level.

Overall #Girlboss is an amazing book and a perfect teen read for the month of August!
