July 2016 Programs and Community Service!


Get in the Game: Stem in Sports: Football
Wednesday, July 6, 3-4pm
We’ll see what we can learn about football, as we toss around a ball while we learn about vectors and inertia. We’ll play some silly games and have some football refreshments. BPY104

Minecraft             
Wednesdays, July 6 and August 3, 7-8:30 and Fridays, July 29 and August 19, 3-5pm
We’ve combined the Teens and Tweens Minecraft! Come in and play a few games, challenge yourself, challenge your friends or work on the challenge we give you. We’ll have surprises and refreshments! BPY205

Battle of the Books
Thursdays, July 7, 14, 21.28, August 4 and 11, 1-3pm, Friday, August 12, 1-3pm, Saturday, August 13 and Monday, August 15 TBA
The Battle of the Books practice sessions have already started. You can still join and be a part of our team and possibly the team that goes to Stony Brook. You can come and see what all the excitement is all about.

YA Movie:  Eddie The Eagle- PG-13

Sports Clue Mystery
Saturday, July 9, 7-9pm
Mrs. Heiser, has found a new Clue Mystery for everyone to solve! They’ll be plenty of mystery and plenty of Library sports for everyone to work on as a team in order to solve this mystery. We’ll have pizza and refreshments while you and your friends solve the mystery. BPY612 

Teen Speak: National French Fries Day!
Tuesday, July 12, 2-3pm

Teen Sports Trivia Afternoon

Do you Kahoot It? If you do and even if you don’t know what it is you’ll want to join us this afternoon for this rousing edition of sports trivia! Do you know everything about sports? Do you want to challenge your friends or do you just want to kick back and enjoy the refreshments. Register and come to this program. BPY411

Geek Out… Vanilla Ice Cream Day
Tuesday, July 19, 2-3pm
Do you believe there is a day set aside for just vanilla ice cream? Come and find out as we eat (there may even be a few other flavors for teens who don’t like vanilla) some ice cream and play some games! BPY500

MIT: Museum Staff in Training
Thursday, July 7, 6-7pm
Join this brand new training program for forward-thinking teens who want to explore the career of education in a museum setting. Gain confidence in connecting people to art and history, and earn an hour of community service credit. BPY638 

Youth Advisory Council
Fridays, July 8 and August 19, 5:30-6:15pm
All teens are welcome to participate in their Youth Advisory Council. Meet with your friends and Ms. Riley, the Young Adult Librarian. Bring your ideas for programs, books and more. Refreshments will be served as we brainstorm new ideas. Please register for this program. BPY201

Sports Buddies

In the first half-hour you will learn what sports crafts we will be doing and in the next hour you will show children how to make their own sports crafts.
