March/April Community Service 2017


Community Service is open to resident teens in the 6th through 12th grade.  You must register for all programs including the Community Service Programs.



If there are any teens who would like to earn Community Service by walking in the Parade for Bayport Blue Point Public Library on Sunday, March 12, 10AM. Please call Mrs. Riley or Mrs. Chant at 631-363-6133.



Muttigrees

Resident teens in 6th-12th grade can come in and pick up a packet to fill out and start their Muttigrees tasks. Teens can also choose up to three tasks per month (see Mutt-i-grees® Volunteer Task List) to earn community service credit. You can work on these projects at home. Applications for this program will be in the Young Adult area. Please read applications carefully. You must have the form filled out before you bring in your projects.



Community Service Teen Book Review

Resident teens can now earn three community service hours per month by reviewing teen books from our Young Adult New Fiction collection. Go to http://www.bayportbluepointlibrary.org/ and Programs: Young Adult and click on the link for Teen Book Review for all instructions.



Youth Advisory Council

Fridays, March 10 and April 7. 5:30-6:15pm

All teens are welcome to participate in their Youth Advisory Council. Meet with your friends and Ms. Riley, the Young Adult Librarian. We will be discussing the Parade, New Community Service programs and your ideas for programs, books and more. Refreshments will be served as we brainstorm new ideas. Please remember Community Service is based on participation. Please register for this program. BPY201



Mutt-i-grees: Dog Toys

Saturday, April 1, 2-3pm

Register for this program where you can receive an hour of community service helping s few shelter dogs by providing them with a toy.   BPY616 



Garden Cleanup

Thursday, April 6, 4-5pm

Spring is arriving and that means it is time to get outside and garden! Come in and earn an hour of community service by weeding, planting and getting dirty while we get the Library’s gardens in order. Limited openings. Please dress appropriately and register.  BPY629  



Lanterns for the Library

Friday, April, 21, 4-5pm

Need an hour of community service? Love to use paper and scissors? If you answered yes to either of those questions, then drop in the library to help us make lanterns, which we will use to decorate the Young Adult area. Please register. BPY621
