Build a Better: Meal Challenge
Wednesday, July 5, 2-3pm
Teens we’re giving you the challenge to build something delicious with lettuce, carrots, tomatoes and more. We’ll have   judging and prizes! We’ll supply everything you will need.  BPY104


Teen Speak: Game Day
Friday, July 7, 2-3pm
We’ll have some minute-to-win-it games for you to test out your abilities. There will be some refreshments, as well. BPY202


Rube Goldberg: Build a Better Mousetrap
Friday, July 7, 3:30-4:30pm
Have you ever heard the expression: Build a Better Mousetrap?  Mrs. Heiser is back to show you and your friends how Rube Goldberg made better and fun contraptions and now you can build your own trap! BPY105

LEGO-Robotics
Monday, July 10, 7-8pm
Learn all about LEGO Robotics at this program. There will be time for some hands on practice! BPY405

Build a Better: Robot
Wednesday, July 12, 2-3pm
You will learn how to use Ozobots, small, smart toy robots that empower learners to code, play, create and connect the physical and digital worlds. BPY104

Mutt-i-grees: Puppies
Friday, July 14, 2-3pm
A visit from the North Shore Animal League with a few very loveable, adoptable  puppies. As part of their Mutt-i-grees in the Library initiative, North Shore Animal League America will introduce teens to shelter animals to show the wonders of empathy. Working together to create adoption posters, teens will build a better world by helping an animal to find a loving, responsible home – they give a voice to the voiceless. Teens will learn about Animal League America, which is the world’s largest no-kill rescue and adoption, and the origin of the word Mutt-i-gree, as well as how they can make a difference in the lives of shelter pets in our community. Build a Better: Engineer Mystery Bag

Come in and practice your engineering skills by participating in a series of timed building challenges from a mystery bag.

Break Out Library Edition
Saturday, July 22, 7-9pm
It’s up to you to solve the mystery of the Break Out Challenge. Each team will receive a challenge that they will have to
solve in order to do the time challenge of our Break Out Box. BPY612


Build a Better: Art
Wednesday, July 26, 2-3pm
You will create a unique, upcycled art display of your own by building and reusing materials to make your very own

Build a Better: Paper Airplane
Monday, July 31, 3:30-4:30pm
A program suggested by the Youth   Advisory Council. Come in and we will see who can design and fly the best paper
airplane. We’ll have prizes and a few light refreshments. BPY106

Teen Speak: National Ice Cream Sandwich Day
Wednesday, August 2, 2-3:30pm
We have a program just in time as the heat starts to set in we have a lazy afternoon of games and ice cream sandwiches. Join us as we enjoy the ice cream and challenge us we play a few games. BPY500

Welcome to the world of Makey Makey! – a world where everyday objects are much more than what they appear. Bananas are more than just a curvy fruit - they’re keys to a virtual piano. And your simple pencil drawings are a portal to Portal.  BPY105

Build a Better Challenge—Kahoot edition
Monday, August 7, 3:30-4:30pm
We’ll be giving you the chance to build your very own Kahoot questions all summer long. We will hand out forms at every program between June 1st and August 2nd. You can write out a question and answer and we’ll put them all together for today’s challenge! Then you come in and see who can win this challenge! BPY411

Ocean Jewelry
Wednesday, August 9, 3-4pm
Learn ways to reuse, recycle and reduce in this recycled—jewelry workshop! Learn the art of rolling and creating beautiful paper beads. Add a metal whale fluke charm to show your love of the sea. BPY318

Tips and Tools for Public Speaking/Platforming Skills
Thursday, August 10, 7-8:30pm
Get Ready For Middle School or a refresher program for teens already in. Did you ever worry about speaking in front of others?  If the answer is yes then this workshop is for you!  We’ll explore how to grab your audience’s attention, organize your thoughts, make sure that the right words come at the right time and some  other basic skills that will give you an edge on connecting with an audience. Getting a point across clearly and having some fun while presenting will build your confidence and get you comfortable speaking in public. SUMMER READING CLUB FINALE
Animals Build a Better World and Finale
Friday, August 18, 1-2:30pm
Come in and meet the creatures that Build a Better World.  Meet Stickers, the tree frog, Tickles the hedgehog and Cheeks the Chinchilla and discover how important their roles are in nature. Yes, you are encouraged to pet and touch each creature. We will also be handing out prizes from the Teen Summer Reading Club and more! BPY502
